Early Fringe

(I guess) It's just another one of those nights
(I guess) It's just another one of those nights
(Still can't sleep) It's just another one of those nights
It's just another one of those nights
Early fringe, you are now tuned in
Let me first start by saying I don't know where to begin
Wanna put out everything that's on my mind but it's only an intro so we'll have to save it for another time but look...
Desperation's reached its peak
I can't believe I'm saying this, I don't want to seem weak
Is it for better or worse? A gift or a curse?
These are the things I dream about, I scheme about, so tell me whatchu know about it?
Huh? Watch know about it?
All I need was a peak, a glance
Now gimme a chance
And I'm still lucid dreaming, still stuck in a trance
Of course life does change as we go, in due time, but for once I can feel the transition as I live mine
Set the goal and missed, did I aim too far?
But I done climbed too high for me to lower the bar
Branched out in Dallas but my roots still in the D
So I'm doing this for my blood and my friends on my family tree
Always have and always will be in tune with the music
My light is a gift, it's contagious to those who view it
My momentum is going and I'm not about to lose it
Finally got a mic, so I figured that I would use it

Primetime

What goes around comes around, at least that's what I'm told
Well that good karma better come around full circle
Cause I feel like it's time, no it's been time
Time for me to get it cause I deserve it, still trying to figure out if it's worth it
Makes me nervous when my options are to just do it or blow it
But with self assurance like mine, yeah you probably wouldn't known it
Listening to these thoughts that keep me up at night
Cause if you're losing sleep over it, then it's gotta be worth something, right?
Naw I'm just tired, tired of losing sleep on the same old things
Cause it's a living nightmare when I'm not living my dream
Lately life been handing me lemons and I'm trying to turn them into gold
My life's a papier-mâché, now watch the story unfold
So now I'm up, way up, so high, my ears about to pop
I guess the wind blows the hardest the closer you get to the mountain top
No, it's not cocky, it's confidence, came before I had the ego
In the spotlight, spotlight, I'm high demand, no pay-per-view though
Seems like everyone around me wants my company, what do you want from me?
My time ain't free, been up for 20 hours, running on 3
Just wondering if I did something wrong or if my time ain't here yet
I'm reaping what I'm sowing and it's rewarding, best believe that
When they see me on they screen, they like "ooo boy you did it"
But it's in my genes, I ain't have to get sized up and fitted
People believe in me more than I do myself, that's backwards
And God believes in me more than I do in Him, how does that work?
I feel I'm playing catch up but can't muster up no courage
Cause I ain't tryna get let left behind just paying off bills and mortgage
I swear, I swear I'm not content with a 9 to 5, I need to feel alive
I guess I'm bout to clock in and do work, I'm going in, it's Primetime
I thought I had it figured out just for me to only end up back here
I guess I gotta tough it out, plan it out, one thing I can't do is just wait it out here
It's the right time for Primetime
(Yeah, ain't no better time than now)
How do expect to stay versatile with the same old style?
How do you expect to get where you going if you not moving now?
You stuck in the same mind frame, playing mind games
Gon and chase your pleasure even if it brings pain
How do you spend your energy? Do you even know what that cost?
How do you friend your enemies? Have you really gained more than you've lost?
I wish I had a team so we could plot about success
People swear they got the class but can't see them passing the test
How much wood would a woodchuck really chuck if it could chuck wood?
It don't matter, the moral is it first had to believe it could
Never underestimate you, never sell your self wealth
And no I'm not just telling you, I have to keep telling myself
Just take a look at my growth, my head in the clouds
My life at its prime, no haters allowed
They might make me proud to know that if they doing what they doing then I'm doing it right
Cause even when you're in shadows, you know there's gotta be light
Look, I'm all about fair time, so when it's your time, take your time
When it's my time, I'ma get mine, if you meeting me, it's at the goal line
Took the narrow road, no wide gates, you either right in front or you left behind
Just don't forget that primetime is the tagline, you feel me?
I thought I had it figured out just for me to only end up back here
I guess I gotta tough it out, plan it out, one thing I can't do is just wait it out here
It's the right time for Primetime
(Yeah, ain't no better time than now)
Stay motivated, stay focused, wake up everyday with a purpose
It's primetime for all of us, DONNCHAM
(Just another one of those nights)
(I guess it's just another one of those nights)

I got a good feeling about this one
Shoulda hopped on this rap/hip-hop train from the get-go
Shoulda had more confidence than I did before
But I'm just getting started, now it's time to walk through the next door
I need to build my own self critically
To start accepting who I am and not who I pretend to be
Cause honestly, I'm not even tryna make it as a rapper
I'm a rockstar but it wouldn't be so bad to fall back on after
Keep your held high and make the best of it
Just keep your glass half full, don't be a pessimist
Just several things I tell myself into a dirty mirror
Say my name three times in the dark just to see it clearer
Ain't where I wanna be but still they wanna talk about it
I feel like Eminem cause it feels so empty without me
And I got the type of attitude you probably couldn't afford
I'm polished, shining brighter than the stars I'm reaching for
I never would have seen myself here
Cause this road is long and this life is shorter
So whatchu making of it?
I'm a late bloomer
You die or you gon grow
Hold up, yeah still gotta good feeling about this one
How many years does it take before I stop feeling this young?
Cause momma told me black don't crack, be real don't act
Got a lot of people in my ear but I won't look back
Cause I got way too much in front of me
Been going so hard, I forgot about people who make fun of me
How dumb of me
My old girl probably wish she wasn't done with me
And all my new friends don't exist, only day one's with me
Y'all wish y'all had this fun with me
Pressure, yes sir, I feel it rise inside
You can't catch up, fess up, yeah you wanna subside
But I just use all compulsion and turn it to motivation
You gotta use self implosion to change up your situation, just know
It's time to show off my stripes, display my true colors, I'm in this for life
Nightmares got smaller, dreams doubled in size
Get eaten alive or the will to survive
So if you feeling what I'm saying, then come along for the ride, let's go
I never would have seen myself here
Cause this road is long and this life is shorter
So whatchu making of it?
I'm a late bloomer
You die or you gon grow
Life is what you want it to be
The only thing that's stopping me is me
I'm pushing myself to every limit, always taking life minute by minute
Success ain't easy
Cause this road is long and this life is shorter
I wanna make a change, gonna make the world stir
There's a dream I'm chasing, I'm trying to keep up and this life is racing
Only looking up cause that's where I'm gonna go
I'm a late bloomer, all I do is grow

Not Impressed
04:31
|

I think this is the year for me
Less and less you'll probably hear from me
Cause all my old friend's have been dropping like flies, but they probably never cared for me
And yeah I started picking up that book again, reading some stories that you'd probably see on CNN
Talking how it's impossible or illogical for someone to do that again, but I guess it's how you see it then
Now go down first then hook up right
Fighting off nightmares that can keep you up at night
Buy into the lies, lying in a bed of lies
Boy, you'll fall for anything if you don't keep your game up tight
It's a strategy, something that just had to be
Honestly, I hate it when anybody is mad at me
But if I don't know you, then you distant, your opinion is indifferent
Cause really you mad at you for not being me
I got doors unlocked and keys on deck
Hallway of relativity, well what did you expect
And when I go, I still remain here, just like King Tut
I'ma do this thing for me
To try to impress who for what?
Saying I don't make the cut
And this is how I do it with ambition and integrity
That's almost a guarantee
I'ma do it with no if, ands, or buts
To try to impress you for what?
And if I ever fall then I haven't failed, I just gotta get up and go hard like I'm tryna lose a gut
Liars will go and put the blame on you
Watching somebody hurt might just put the pain on you
Or even worse, you feel the pressure from being lesser
Can't catch up to everybody, but it might just be the same for you
And did you find what you were looking for?
Cause most of us don't even know what we be looking for
Instead we go around in circles like the running man
But two are better together like a venn diagram
Yeah, there's more to life than just complaining
Fussing about how you missed the mark, but where you aiming?
So many lions that I'm taming, I'm the death of the party leaving with way more than I came with
And why we so concerned on what we do or what we don't have
Until we end up with nothing and then we want half
But money ain't the wool so why bother what sheep cost
I count them all like my blessings so there's no sleep lost
Sometimes I think about American me, American you
How do I fit in society? What's inside of you?
Just don't lose sight of what you could be
Give nothing less than your best
And yet, they still tryna stress you for what?
Saying I don't make the cut
And this is how I do it with ambition and integrity
That's almost a guarantee
I'ma do it with no if, ands, or buts
To try to impress you for what?
And if I ever fall then I haven't failed, I just gotta get up and go hard like I'm tryna lose a gut
The world's mine, I see you in it
This life ain't a joke but I hope you get it
They say to stay in my lane but it's my highway
We getting thriller by night then grinding by day
This is my master quest, my RPG
You see a star in daylight, you know you seeing me
And just a word of advice, endurance is the key
I know there's a purpose
But you say this ain't my destiny for what?
Saying I don't make the cut
And this is how I do it with ambition and integrity
That's almost a guarantee
I'ma do it with no if, ands, or buts
To try to impress you for what?
And if I ever fall then I haven't failed, I just gotta get up and go hard like I'm tryna lose a gut

I know that you love it when I call you "baby"
Pedal to the floor, you know I drive you crazy
You're like a painted picture, girl you hypnotize me
You should know why I get that way when I'm next to your body
And you know that I can't do this on my own
We both done had our shares of rights and wrongs
Remember when I called you "baby"?
Do you?
Well, it is what it is
I did what I did
No regrets that were made
Adult, teen or a kid
But I still feel like we got somehing
Every since we met in 2000...something, I can't remember
But what I do recall is every time you call, you always pissing me off
I said I was hard, you always knew I was soft
A lot of up and downs but I wouldn't trade it at all
And you know what they say, patience is a virtue
And without it I wouldn't have made it here
A lot of people started from the bottom, now they at the top
But for some reason, I'm still not there (yet)
And you can bet I'm still grinding, no whining, no time to FaceTime
But from time to time, I still see your face though
If we can get it back together, we should take it slow
Yeah, if we can make this thing work, we should take it slow
I never meant to make you feel like you were not missed
But I guess it's all the same
I had a couple of mishaps with misfits, exchanged tongues then digits
On joyrides and field trips then I'm all up in my feel trips
If you said that, you meant it
And what I say back, you dismiss it
Keep building your defenses but I won't beg for your attention
What's your mission, my intentions were not to force you to listen
Now we're kissing and it's like it never happened to begin with
Now we spring forward, we saving daylight, holding on tight and getting stronger
Then we fall back in our last quarter, the days are shorter and the nights are longer
And it's so dark that it absorbs light, like a black hole on the event horizon
And we're at the point of no return and there's no point of us even trying
So we single on the low, fronts that we put on, money that we blown, tryna make it out here on own
You might've gone and found someone and they good to call you "lady"
But it ain't like that first time, the first time that I called you "baby"
For real

Banksy (Open Your Eyes)

Open your eyes
It's right in front of your face, it's plain in disguise
Still caught by surprise
And all you need to be great is to break from the world
But still somehow can't even sever the ties
Man, open your eyes
Just look at what we've done to ourselves
So caught up in greed, never content with wellness and health
And we were human until we ranked by race, political science will keep us divided, and classified by wealth
Open your eyes
Are we really doing all we can?
We listen just to reply, not listen to understand
One man had a goal to make the world a better place
Next thing you know we got bombed from Japan
Man, open your eyes
Give a man a gun and he can rob a bank
Give a man a bank and he can rob the world
But our perception of happiness can be different
Many people are poor cause all they got is their riches
Open your eyes
Are you seeing what I'm seeing?
Are you seeing what I'm seeing right now?
Open your eyes
So what's the real question?
Do people really die from suicide or the depression?
Do we stand divided as a nation?
Or what if the cure for cancer is in the brain of someone who can't even afford a good education?
Real love is more than we can handle
If we're a perfect match, why did we burn out like a candle?
And if you're poor and caught with drugs, they label it a crime
Do the same thing if you're rich, they classify it as a scandal
(I'm going to rehab)
Many parents will do anything for their kids
Except let them be who they are, tryna fit them into a grid
Cause a quiz don't study skills, just obedience to take a test
If the whole world was blind, would your people still be impressed?
When you focus on problems, you'll just have more problems
When you sort out your options, you learn how to solve them
And you gotta be hurt to grow, you lose you gain
Sometimes lessons are better learned through pain
Open your eyes
Are you seeing what I'm seeing?
Are you seeing what I'm seeing right now?
Open your eyes
It's right in front of your face, it's plain in disguise
Still caught by surprise
And all you need to be great is to break from the world
You exist but do you feel alive?
The biggest steps we ever take in our lives come from taking smaller steps in the right direction, never stop progressing
Lessen social media time
Gotta unplug to try to find a better connection
There is only one rule that you should follow
When coming up on success, don't reveal everything you know
It's so typical to love on the beautiful but even more beautiful to love on the typical
Remember, you are a work of art, no one will get you
But for the ones that do, they won't forget you
Everything in life is your decision
If you wanna be great, don't ask permission
Are your eyes still closed?
What you gain always comes with a greater cost
And who you lose is not always counted a loss
The greatest battle we face is head versus heart
If their true colors show, don't go try repainting the art
I see humans but still no humanity
The way that we think makes me question my sanity
Cause we kill people who kill cause killing people is wrong
Now I said too much, they'll have me dead by the end of this song
Open your ...

Meet me in outer space
We can disappear without a trace
Meet me in the atmosphere
We can never come down from here
We can stay up
If they ain't what we doing, baby
Let's just stay young
I know just what you feeling, baby
Meet me in the Milky Way
I can take you light years away, if you want me to
Don't fret, have no fear
All our secrets heard by no ear
We can stay up
If they ain't what we doing, baby
Let's just stay young
I know just what you feeling, baby
Zone out, meditate
Vibe out, leave our problems in desolate
Slow down no rush, go with the flow rate
Just follow the comet, yeah that's a tailgate
And it's so divine what I'm telling ya
When the stars align, you know I'm feeling ya
When our hearts collide, it's crash nebula
Through the space time continuum
Come along with me on a galactic odyssey
So many things that you gotta see
I'm talking way out, cosmic dust clouds
Pass the Kuiper Belt, near the Oort cloud
Now that gravity is steady growing stronger and my light won't seem to eclipse
As I ignite, I see you wonder just how do you do it

Yours Truly
03:19
|
|||
Dear mother,
I love you like no other
I know you always praying for me, always got me covered by the Lord's eternal mercy and grace, by His hand
So now tell me, how do you raise a man?
Cause my father wasn't there and where he cannot you can and I'm the evidence
You said that I could be whatever, even president
I know you meant it
When a male is raised by his mama, you know she in his story throughout the periods and commas and the nonsense
Even throughout all of the girl drama
All these people want my time and my signature, too
But do they really know that I'm just a miniature you?
And I appreciate you fully, this one was made and played by yours truly
This one was made and played by yours truly
Dear sister,
Just know I always miss ya
They only I time I see you year round is in the winter but it ain't a enough
Growing up was tough up in the D, watching family twist and turn can be a tongue twister
But I know you always down for me, we like some blood blisters
So what's next, we go from MI to the TX, you go from TX to the GA
I didn't know if you'd stay but looking back on it now, yeah we probably needed some space
I'm kidding, you know that you're my favorite sibling over no one else
Even family we choose for ourselves
And when we don't have much to say, the love can speak for itself
No one can match against your beauty, this one was made and played by yours truly
This one was made and played by yours truly
Dear Jesus,
I hope You not only hear this but you see this
I'm constantly caught between You and this world that I compete with
And it's leaving damaged and worn out
And I don't know where I went wrong but I know I'm not too far gone
I'm surprised that I've been dealing with the same old things for so long
And truth be told, I'm sick of being me, I know who I should be
I'm sick of the routine, I'm sick of falling short
But most of all, I'm sick of these demons that torment and torture me when I'm weak
Man, I get so weak
But I know that if you call me Your son then I know the war is already won
That when You said it was finished, it was already done
This life was made and paid by You, it's Yours, it's Yours truly

I got a lot of dreams I wanna see fulfilled
A lot of things that's on my plate, I think I wanna spill
But I'm not the type to gossip, you know what's the deal
Sometimes life can leave you numb, well here's something to feel
Are you feeling this?
Tell me now one time, are you feeling this?
Feel Me
This is the sequel, my words done turned lethal
Might think we the same but our status unequal
D-O-double N-C-H-A-M
Had to boomerang the beat and bring it back again
We can meet up at the party, bring the f-a-m
10 PM, going to the bright AM
We up!
And ain't nothing changed since the first time
It's been a long time coming
Your attitude ain't changed from the last time
You spend a lot of time slumming
Never fall, I just bounce back
Living life up on the edge, I need to step back
Like a daredevil
You wonder how I got up to this level
Couldn't tell you
You know I'm always blessed
Always up
Stay down
You know what's up
Got my crown, from a prince to a king
A goblet is my cup, royalty is my thing
Medieval, you got about much hype as a bad sequel
Man, you so see through
And what you think that matters is all fecal
Most of me likes hugging trees but sometimes get a little savage
My life GPA got A's and B's
But my greatest point ain't average
Life ain't a game but you skipping and lagging
Now I'm stuck here picking up for what you lacking
Releasing the kraken
You heard of the cypher, that's me
For all of these codes I be cracking
You know the motto, yeah these times change but these people don't
Gotta do those things that those people won't
Be wise and listen when the people spoke
To know when to go and when to stay
Like blackjack, you either hit or miss
There's a million things that you need to know
But only one emotion if you're feeling this
That's life, never tripping
Her waist is what I'm gripping
Best believe I got them digits
Doing things your man couldn't
Heating up like a summer jam
Got the power in my hands
Talkin bout them bandz on bandz
I am ignited, I am the flyest
Me and my homie DONNCHAM doing nothing like we do this everyday
